County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County of an
assistant clerk to the said Commissioners, relating to the
removal, compensation, duties, oath and bond of said
assistant clerk and relating to the compensation and bond
of the clerk to the said Commissioners.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 235, 236 and 237 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Anne Arundel County (1947 Edi-
tion), being Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Anne Arundel County",
sub-title "County Commissioners", be and they are hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
235. [They] The County Commissioners of Anne Arun-
del County shall appoint a clerk who shall hold his office
for two years from the date of his appointment and until
the qualification of his successor. The County Commis-
sioners shall also have authority to appoint an assistant
clerk who shall have full power and authority to act as
clerk in the absence of the regularly appointed clerk and
who shall perform such other duties as may be prescribed
by the County Commissioners or imposed by law. [He]
The clerk and the assistant clerk shall be removable at the
pleasure of the County Commissioners and shall each re-
ceive [an annual salary of not more than Twenty-four
Hundred Dollars ($2400)] such salaries as may be pre-
scribed by the County Commissioners. The [said] clerk
shall be in charge of the office of the County Commissioners
and shall perform the duties pertaining to his office and
such other duties as may be prescribed by the County
Commissioners or imposed by law.
236. [He] The clerk and assistant clerk shall each, be-
fore [he enters] entering upon the duties of his office, exe-
cute [a] bonds to the State of Maryland in [the] penalty
[of Five Thousand Dollars] amounts to be [approved]
prescribed by the County Commissioners and in such form
as may be approved by the County Commissioners, condi-
tioned [for] upon the true and faithful performance by
each of the duties of his office, and the said bonds shall be
recorded in the office of the clerk of the Circuit Court for
[said] Anne Arundel County.
237. [He] The clerk and assistant clerk shall also, when
appointed, take and subscribe before the [said Commis-
sioners] Clerk of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel
