tions incurred during that year and which will be unpaid
at the end thereof. Any unexpended balance of such appro-
priation, against which there will be no outstanding obli-
gation at the end of the fiscal year, except balances from
sources dedicated by any Act of Congress or by the laws
of the State to some specific purpose or purposes, shall
revert to the General Treasury of the State at the end of
the fiscal year.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

CHAPTER 50
(Senate Bill 174)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
38 (w) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensa-
tion and Duties", increasing the expense allowances of
the Sheriff and the Deputy Sheriffs of Worcester County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 38 (w) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Sheriffs", sub-title
"Compensation and Duties", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
38.
(w). The Sheriff of Worcester County shall receive an
annual salary of $2, 400. He shall appoint two deputies
who shall each receive an annual salary of $1, 800. He
shall be allowed [$1, 0003 $1, 800. per year for expenses.
The County Commissioners of Worcester County shall
[have the power to] grant an expense allowance of [not
more than Fifty Dollars ($50. 00) per month] $1500. per
year, payable monthly, for each deputy sheriff.
