Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Fines and Forfei-
tures", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
5. One-half of the fines imposed and recognizances for-
feited to the Circuit Court for the several counties of the
State, shall be paid to the clerks of the respective courts,
to be expended under the direction of the judge or judges
of said courts, for the augmentation of the libraries of
said courts, and one-half of the fines and recognizances
received by the City Treasurer of Baltimore City from the
justices of the peace in Baltimore City and the Sheriff of
Baltimore City, as adjudged by and accruing in the Crim-
inal Courts of Baltimore City, and collected and received
by or through the said Sheriff, shall be paid by the City
Treasurer to the Library Company of the Baltimore Bar
for its use and benefit, said sum to the Library Company
of the Baltimore Bar not to exceed, however, in any year
the sum of [Nine Thousand Five Hundred Dollars
($9, 500. 00)] Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15. 000, 00). This
section not to apply to Queen Anne's, Anne Arundel and
Talbot Counties. No commission or charge shall be paid
to any clerk of the court for collecting and paying over
said fines.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1951.
