annually, unless of shorter duration, then at maturity of said
obligation, which said bonds or certificates of indebtedness
shall be made payable within not to exceed fifteen years from
the date of issuance; and the Treasurer of the Town of Brent-
wood is charged with the custody of any money received from
the sale of said bonds or certificates of indebtedness issued
hereunder; provided, however, that the bonds or certificates of
indebtedness issued hereunder shall be in addition to and not
affected by nor included in the limitation of Section 18-B of
the Town charter of Brentwood as enacted by Chapter 167 of
the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1927 and
amended by Chapter 21 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of Maryland of 1931, nor affected by or included in the provi-
sions of Chapter 430 of the Acts of the General Assembly of
Maryland of 1935. To provide for the payment of interest on
and amortization of the principal of said bonds or certificates
of indebtedness, the Mayor and Town Council of Brentwood,
Maryland, are hereby authorized and required to set aside each
year out of the fire tax fund provided in Section 1 of Chapter
135 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1929,
as amended, a sufficient amount of the annual fire tax collec-
tions or receipts to pay first, the annual interest on said Bonds
or certificates of indebtedness outstanding and second, to pro-
vide a sufficient sinking fund with which to pay such bonds or
certificates of indebtedness as and when they mature.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That before this Act shall
be in full force and effect the Mayor and Town Council of
Brentwood, Maryland, shall submit the question of authorizing
a bond issue or issue of certificates of indebtedness of not to
exceed Fifteeen Thousand Dollars ($15, 000. 00) in the prin-
cipal sum, to mature not to exceed fifteen years from the date
of issuance thereof for the purpose of providing funds for the
purchase, construction or enlargement of a suitable building
for the housing of the fire apparatus and equipment of the
Brentwood Volunteer Fire Department, Incorporated, and for
providing adequate space and room for the Mayor and Town
Council of Brentwood within which to hold its meetings and
to keep its records, to the qualified voters of the Town of
Brentwood, Maryland, at either a special election or the next
general town election.
The ballots shall be prepared as ballots are prepared for
general town elections and shall have printed thereon, among
other things, the words "For an issue of bonds or certificates
of indebtedness to obtain funds for the enlargement of the
fire house and municipal building" with a blank square opposite
at the right of said words; and immediately thereunder shall
