MECHANICAL OR ELECTRICAL, AMUSEMENT
DEVICES EXCEPT CLAW MACHINES AND PIN-
BALL MACHINES, WHICH REQUIRE THE INSER-
TION OF A COIN OR TOKEN FOR THEIR OPERA-
TION AND WHICH OFFER AN AWARD OTHER
THAN FREE PLAYS TO THE PLAYER, BASED, IN
WHOLE OR IN PART, UPON CHANCE OR SKILL.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to the Prince
George's County Code (1943 Edition), being Article 17
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title
Prince George's County", sub-title "Gaming", said new
section to be known as Section 609A, to follow immedi-
ately after Section 609 of said Article, and to read as
follows:

609 A. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or cor-
poration to have or possess, at any place of business or
other place open to the public generally, in Prince George's
County, any slot machine, console machine, claw machine,

pinball machine or any other mechanical devise which is

capable of being used for gambling purposes. Any person
found having or possessing any of the above mentioned
machines or devices shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and

OTHER PLACE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC GENERALLY
OR AT ANY CLUB, IN PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY,
ANY UPRIGHT SIDE LEVER OPERATED SLOT MA-
CHINE, COMMONLY CALLED THE "ONE-ARMED
BANDIT", MECHANICAL OR ELECTRICAL AMUSE-
MENT DEVICES EXCEPT CLAW MACHINES AND
PINBALL MACHINES, WHICH REQUIRE THE INSER-
TION OF A COIN OR TOKEN FOR THEIR OPERA-
TION AND WHICH OFFER AN AWARD OTHER
THAN FREE PLAYS TO THE PLAYER, BASED IN
WHOLE OR IN PART, UPON CHANCE OR SKILL.
ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE PROVISIONS OF
THIS SECTION SHALL BE DEEMED GUILTY OF A
MISDEMEANOR AND upon conviction thereof, shall be
subject to a fine of not more than One Hundred Dollars
($100. 00) for each such machine or device so had or pos-
sessed and, in addition, each such machine or device shall
be confiscated and destroyed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1951, SEPTEMBER 1, 1951.
