such allotment and payments shall be made, and whether
the same shall be paid weekly, monthly or otherwise; and
provided further, that the court in its discretion may mod-
ify, amend or rescind such order in whole or part at any
time during the continuance of any sentence.
97. Any person having the care, custody or possession
of any minor child [under the age of twelve years], who
shall desert or abandon such child with the intent that it
shall become a public charge, or without making provision
for its proper support and maintenance for a period of at
least three years with some responsible person or institu-
tion duly authorized to take and care for infants, shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall
be fined not exceeding One Hundred Dollars or be im-
prisoned in jail or in the House of Correction or in the
Maryland Reformatory for Women for a period not ex-
ceeding one year.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1951.

(Senate Bill 442)
AN ACT to add a new section to the Prince George's
County Code (1943 Edition), being Article 17 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince
George's County", sub-title "Gaming", said new section
to be known as Section 609A and to follow immediately
after Section 609 of said Article, making it unlawful to
have or possess, at any place of business or other place
open to the public generally, in Prince George's County,
slot machines, console machines, claw machines, pin-
ball machines or other mechanical devices which are
capable of being used for gambling purposes. OPEN TO
THE PUBLIC GENERALLY OR IN ANY CLUB, IN
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, SLOT MACHINES,
