AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-section
(p) of Section 37B of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Com-
pensation and Duties", said sub-section having been amended
by Chapter 361 of the Acts of 1949, relating to the salary
and allowances of the Sheriff of Prince George's County and
providing for increase of allowance for compensation of
deputies and assistants.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sub-section (p) of Section 37B of Article 87 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title
"Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation and Duties", said sub-sec-
tion having been amended by Chapter 361 of the Acts of 1949
be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
37B.
(p) The Sheriff of Prince George's County shall receive an
annual salary of $4, 000 and [$600] $1, 000 per year for opera-
tion and maintenance of his automobile [and $400 per year
for the term of said Sheriff, the total of which may be furnished
the Sheriff when his term commences or when the County Com-
missioners see fit, for the purchase of an automobile to be used
by the Sheriff or his deputies for the general public work of
the office within said county, which automobile shall be main-
tained by the Sheriff without any cost to the County and |600
annually for the operation of the said automobile. ] during his
term as Sheriff, for the use and work of his office within said
County, without any additional cost to the County. He may
appoint such deputies and assistants as he may deem necessary
and at such compensation as he shall fix but the compensation
of all such deputies and assistants shall not exceed [$4, 700]
$12, 600. He may also appoint a stenographer at an annual
salary [of $1, 500] not to exceed $2, 500.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1951.
