AN ACT to authorize the State Roads Commission to pay
to the employees of the Chesapeake Bay Ferry System,
from the revenues of said system, an increase in salary
in certain cases and in certain amounts during the last
six months of the operation of said ferry system.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That in order to provide an incentive for the employees
of the Chesapeake Bay Ferry System to remain in the em-
ploy of said system until the termination thereof and
thereby insure the proper operation and maintenance of
said system until the Chesapeake Bay Bridge is com-
pleted and opened to traffic, the State Roads Commission
is hereby authorized to increase the salaries of all em-
ployees on said system during the last six months of serv-
ice, and pay same from the revenues of said ferry system,
in an amount equal to the schedule set forth below:
To all employees who have been employed by said Sys-
tem for less than one year a sum equal to one month's
salary.
To all employees who have been employed by said System
for one year or more but less than ten years a sum equal
to two months salary.
To all employees who have been employed by said System
for ten years or more but less than fifteen years a sum
equal to three months salary.
To all employees who have been employed by said Sys-
tem for fifteen years or more but less than twenty years a
sum equal to four months salary.
To all employees who have been employed by said Sys-
tem for twenty years or more but less than thirty years a
sum equal to five months salary.
To all employees who have been employed by said Sys-
tem for thirty years or more a sum equal to six months
salary.
The above sums shall be regarded as a salary increase
amortized equally over the monthly salary period of each
employee for the six months next preceeding the termina-
tion of the Chesapeake Bay Ferry System but such in-
