AN ACT to add a new section to the Baltimore City
Charter and Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1949 Edition), title "Baltimore City, " sub-title "Police
Commissioner, " said section to be known as Section
536A and to follow immediately after Section 536 of
said Charter and Code, to allow credit for certain offi-
cers and employees of the Baltimore City Police De-
partment for time spent during World War II as Spe-
cial Policemen for the protection of the Baltimore Water
Supply and Sewerage System.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to the Balti-
more City Charter and Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1949 Edition), title "Baltimore City, " sub-title
"Police Commissioner, " said section to be known as Sec-
tion 536A, to follow immediately after Section 536 of said
Charter and Code, and to read as follows:
5S6A. The time spent by any person, now a member of
the Police Force of Baltimore City or now employed as a
maintenance man in said Department, during World War
II as Special Policemen for the protection of the Water
Supply or Sewerage System of Baltimore City shall be
construed and deemed as having been spent on said Police
Force or as an employee of said Department for the pur-
pose of determining seniority rating, provided he shall
pay into the Special Fund of the Police Department the
amount which he would have paid into said Fund if he
had been an employee of the Police Department during
such period of time.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1951.
