whenever the County Commissioners of any county shall
acquire voting machines for use in county elections therein,
they shall be authorized to rent or lease the use of such
machines to any municipal corporation or other political
sub-division therein and further authorizing the said muni-
cipal corporations or political sub-divisions to rent or lease
and to use said machines.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new sub-section be and it is hereby added to Sec-
tion 85 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947
Supplement), title "Elections", sub-title "Elections", said new
sub-section to be known as Sub-section (a-1), to follow imme-
diately after Sub-section (a) of said Section 85, and to read
as follows:

85.

(a-1) In any county in which voting machines shall have
been acquired for use in county elections, the Board of Super-
visors of Elections shall have the power to rent or lease any
of said voting machines to any municipal corporation or to
any other political sub-division within said county. Said
rental or leasing shall be on such terms and conditions as the
said Board of Supervisors of Elections, with the approval of
the County Commissioners of said county, shall determine.
Any municipal corporation or other political sub-division in
any such county is hereby authorized and empowered to rent or
lease said voting machines and to use the same in municipal
or other elections therein, upon the approval of any such rental
or leasing agreement by the governing body of the municipality
or other political sub-division.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1951.
