of the current pay of officers holding the same rank as the
retired officer; and
WHEREAS, at the time of his retirement, John J. White, Jr.,
was considered an employee of the Police Department and was
granted a pension equal to one-half of his compensation but
since the office of Chief Clerk has been abolished, he continues
to receive a pension equal to one-half the pay he was receiving
in 1937 which was approximately the amount a retired lieu-
tenant in the Police Department would have received at that
time; and
WHEREAS, retired lieutenants now receive a pension equal
to one-half the current pay of lieutenants; and
WHEREAS, John J. White, Jr., retired Chief Clerk of the
Traffic Court, should be granted the same rights; now therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Police Commissioner of Baltimore City be and
he is hereby authorized and directed to pay to John J. White,
Jr., retired Chief Clerk of the Traffic Court, a pension equal
in amount to the pension paid a retired lieutenant of the
Police Department of said City.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1951.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 27 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition and 1947 Supplement), title
"Crimes and Punishments", said new section to be known
as Section 302-7/8, to follow immediately after Section
302-3/4, as said section was enacted by the Acts of 1950,
and to be under the sub-title "Gaming", relating to the play-
ing of bingo in Washington County.
