"Compensation and Duties", providing for the appoint-
ment of a Deputy Sheriff in Calvert County and making
provision for the compensation and for the allowance
for uniform, equipment and expenses of said Deputy
Sheriff; to repeal Section 86A of Article 5 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Calvert County", sub-title "County Commissioners",
said section having been enacted by Chapter 14 of the
Acts of 1939, said section relating generally to the ap-
pointment, duties and compensation of a Special Police
Officer in the Town of Prince Frederick and vicinity.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sub-section 37B (d) of Article 87 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Sheriffs",
sub-title "Compensation and Duties", be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
37B.
(d) The Sheriff of Calvert County shall receive an
annual salary of $3, 000 and $1, 800 for all expenses, which
may be increased or decreased in the discretion of the
County Commissioners. The said Sheriff shall appoint a
Deputy Sheriff to serve at the pleasure of said Sheriff.
The Deputy shall receive as a minimum the salary and
the allowances for traveling, uniforms, arms, equipment
and expenses which were being received by the Special
Police Officer in Prince Frederick and vicinity immedi-
ately prior to March 1, 1951.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the first such
Deputy Sheriff as provided for hereinabove in this Act
shall be the person who immediately prior to March 1,
1951, was serving as the Special Police Officer in the Town
of Prince Frederick and vicinity under the provisions of
Section 86A of Article 5 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland, as said section was enacted by Chapter 14 of
the Acts of 1939.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That Section 86A
of Article 5 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Calvert County", sub-title "County
Commissioners", said section having been enacted by
Chapter 14 of the Acts of 1939, be and it is hereby repealed.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency measure and necessary
