VACANCIES AMONG CANDIDATES
61. Should any person nominated for office die before
election day and a vacancy thus be created, or should a
similar vacancy occur for any other reason, the vacancy
shall be filled in so far as is practicable in the same manner
used for the original nomination. The board of aldermen
shall provide in detail, by ordinance, how such vacancies
shall be filled.
ELECTION OF MAYOR AND ALDERMEN AND CITY
REGISTER
62. On the second Tuesday in June, 1954, and on the
same day every four years thereafter, the qualified voters
of the City of Frederick shall elect from the city at large
a mayor, five aldermen, and a city register and collector
of taxes. The mayor, the aldermen, and the city register
and collector of taxes shall serve for terms of four years
and until their successors are elected and qualified.
VOTING PLACES
63. It shall be the duty of the Board of Supervisors of
Elections to provide for each primary, special, or regular
city election a suitable place or places in each precinct for
voting. If the Board of Supervisors of Elections is unable
to find a suitable place for voting in any precinct, it may
provide a voting place for said precinct in any other
adjacent precinct. The board shall supply suitable ballot
boxes and suitable ballots and/or voting machines and all
other necessary equipment for use in each primary, special
or regular city election. The board of aldermen shall have
the power, by ordinance, to establish one central voting
place for the City of Frederick at any time it deems it
advisable, in which case it shall not be necessary to pro-
vide a voting place in each precinct.
NOTICE OF ELECTIONS
64. The Board of Supervisors of Elections shall give
at least ten days notice of all special or regular city elec-
tions by publishing a notice thereof in two or more news-
papers of general circulation in the City of Frederick,
stating the object of the election and the date, hours, and
places of holding the same.
