Sub-section (b) of said Section and Article, abolishing the
office of Constable-at-large, providing for an additional dep-
uty sheriff, giving to deputy sheriffs the duties of the Con-
stable-at-large, and relating to fees charged by the Sheriff
and deputy sheriffs in the performance of their duties.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That Sub-section (Frederick County) of Section 100 and
Section 101 of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1947 Supplement), title "Justices of the Peace, " sub-title
"Trial Magistrates System, " said Sub-section (Frederick
County) of Section 100 of said Article having been amended
by Chapter 476 of the Acts of 1949 and Sub-section (j) of
Section 37B of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1947 Supplement), title "Sheriffs, " sub-title "Compensation
and Duties, " be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

100. (Frederick County. ) There shall be five Trial Magis-
trates, two of whom shall sit at Frederick and receive each an
annual salary of $3, 000. 00, one of whom shall sit at Emmits-
burg and receive an annual salary of $900. 00, one of whom
shall sit at Thurmont and receive an annual salary of $900. 00,
and one of whom shall sit at Brunswick and receive an annual
salary of $1, 320. 00. The Sheriff of Frederick County and the
deputies appointed under the provisions of Section 37B (j) of
Article 87 are hereby authorized, directed and required to serve
all civil process issued by said Magistrates. The Sheriff shall
assign said deputies to serve under the several Trial Magis-
trates, and any such deputy sheriff shall be under the direction
and supervision of the Trial Magistrate to whom assigned and
shall, in addition to serving any civil process issued by such
Trial Magistrate, perform any other duties as may be pre-
scribed by such Trial Magistrate.

101. (Salaried Constables. ) One constable at large may be
appointed by the County Commissioners of the several counties
for each Trial Magistrate, and each of said constables at large
shall receive, in lieu of fees in civil and criminal cases, an an-
nual salary of $600. 00; but in Allegany County, the County
Commissioners shall appoint four constables at large for two
trial magistrates who sit for the trial of cases in the City of
Cumberland; one of said constables shall receive an annual
salary of not less than Twenty-one Hundred and Sixty Dollars
($2, 160. 00), one shall receive an annual salary of not less than
Eighteen Hundred Dollars ($1, 800. 00), one shall receive an
annual salary of not less than Fifteen Hundred Dollars
($1, 500. 00) in lieu in each case of all criminal costs and fees,
and one shall receive an annual salary of Twelve Hundred
