Retirement System", said section having been amended by
Chapter 745 of the Acts of 1949, relating to the pension to
be paid to teachers in Washington County AND FRED-
ERICK COUNTIES.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 97A of Article 77 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Public Education",
sub-title "Teachers' Retirement System", said section having
been amended by Chapter 745 of the Acts of 1949, be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
97 A. Any person who —
(1) shall have been a teacher in the public schools of this
State for an aggregate period of twenty-five (25) years or more
prior to June 1, 1927, and who, in the case of Frederick and
Caroline Counties, - COUNTY, shall have been a teacher for
a period of twenty (20) years or more prior to June 1, 1927;
and who, in the case of Washington County, shall have
been [a teacher or] a clerk, [or both] whether at the same
time or at different times, for a period of twenty five-years
or more, prior to June 1, 1927, and who, in the case of Wash-
ington County AND FREDERICK COUNTIES, shall have
been a teacher, whether a day, night or substitute teacher, OR
A CLERK, and whether at the same time or at different times,
for a period of twenty (20) years or more prior to January
JULY 1, 1931; and who
(2) shall be ineligible for a pension under this sub-title;
and who
(3) shall be at least sixty (60) years of age; and
(4) whose record as such teacher shall be without reproach;
and who
(5) shall be unable to teach school because of physical dis-
ability or infirmity shall receive a pension of Seven Hundred
and Twenty Dollars ($720. 00) per annum, payable quarterly.

teacher has taught, except that in the case of Washington
County, the County Commissioners are directed to pay a pen-
sion of Fifty Dollars ($50. 00 a month to any such teacher
WHO SHALL HAVE TAUGHT FOR MORE THAN TWEN-
TY AND UP TO TWENTY-FIVE YEARS, AND $60. 00 A
MONTH TO ANY SUCH TEACHER WHO SHALL HAVE
TAUGHT FOR TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OR MORE. Pro-
vision for the payment of said pensions shall be made in the
