"Montgomery County, " sub-title "Kensington, " authoriz-
ing certain payments to the Mayor and Councilmen of
the Town of Kensington for traveling and other expenses
incurred in carrying out their public duties.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 632 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mont-
gomery County (1947 Edition), (Being Section 110-3 of
the 1950 Montgomery County Code), being Article 16 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edi-
tion), title "Montgomery County, " sub-title "Kensington, "
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

632. (110-3) The citizens of the town shall, on the first
Monday in June, in the year 1938, and every second year
thereafter on the first Monday in June, at such place or
places as shall be designated by the Judges of Election, be-
tween the hours of six o'clock P. M. and nine o'clock P. M.
elect by ballot one person, Mayor of the town, whose term
of office shall commence on the first day of July following
his election, and he shall serve for a term of two years or
until his successor is elected and qualified. The citizens
aforesaid shall, on the first Monday in June, 1937, elect
two persons to be members of the Council of said town, who
shall serve for a term of two years, or until their suc-
cessors are elected and qualified, and whose term of office
shall commence July 1, 1937, and they, with the two Coun-
cilmen elected at the election held in said Town on the first
Monday in June in 1936, for two years from said date, shall
constitute the Council of said town, with the Mayor elected
at said election. The citizens of the town shall elect, on the
first Monday in June of each year thereafter two persons
to be members of the Council of said town, who shall serve
for two years, or until their successors are elected and
qualified, and whose terms of office shall commence on the
first day of July immediately following their election. The
qualifications for voters in said election shall be the same
as prescribed for voters by the Laws of this State and they
must have resided within the corporate limits of said town
for at least six months next preceding the election. Candi-
dates for Mayor shall be not less than thirty (30) years of
age and candidates for Councilmen not less than twenty-
five (25) years of age; they shall have resided in the town
for at least one year immediately preceding the election for
which they are candidates and be legal voters and free-
holders therein. The Mayor and Councilmen must continue
to reside in said town during their terms of office [and they
shall receive no compensation for their services]. The
