(House Bill 549)
AN ACT to repeal Section 179 (e) of Article 81 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Revenue
and Taxes", sub-title "State Tax Commission", said section
having been amended by Chapter 64 of the Acts of the Special
Session of 1948, and to enact a new Section 179 (e) in lieu
thereof, relating to the salary of the Supervisor of Assess-
ments in Anne Arundel County and to the appointment of
an Assistant Supervisor of Assessments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 179 (e) of Article 81 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Revenue and Taxes",
sub-title "State Tax Commission", said section having been
amended by Chapter 64 of the Acts of the Special Session of
1948, be and it is hereby repealed, and that a new Section
179 (e) be and it is hereby enacted in lieu thereof, to read as
follows:
179.
(e) The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
may levy and pay an additional sum to the Supervisor of
Assessments therein in excess of the amount provided for here-
inabove in this section except that the total salary to be paid
said Supervisor shall not exceed $6, 000. 00 annually. The por-
tion of said salary to be paid by the State shall be limited to
the amount prescribed in the schedules hereinbefore set forth.
The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County may upon
the recommendation of the Supervisor of Assessments desig-
nate one of the County Assessors as Assistant Supervisor of
Assessments and may levy and pay said Assistant Supervisor
of Assessments such additional sum not to exceed $4, 500. 00 as
they in their discretion may determine, provided that the por-
