title "Time—Standard", said new section to be known as
Section 4 and to follow immediately after Section 3 of said
Article, providing that Daylight Saving Time shall be effec-
tive in all parts of Allegany County and making this Act
subject to a referendum.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
94 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition and 1947
Supplement), title "Time—Standard", said new section to be
known as Section 4 and to follow immediately after Section 3
of said Article and to read as follows:

4. Notwithstanding the provisions hereinabove in this
Article or elsewhere in the laws of this State, the variation
from Standard Time known commonly as Daylight Saving
Time shall be effective in Allegany County as in this section
provided. From two o'clock A. M. on the last Sunday in April
until two o'clock A. M. on the last Sunday in September of
each year, the official time throughout Allegany County shall
be advanced one hour; and all courts, public offices, and legal
and official proceedings, in so far as the same are subject to or
under the control of the County Commissioners of Allegany
County, or of the governing body of every municipal corpora-
tion therein, shall be regulated thereby, and all time shown
by the public clocks shall agree therewith.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That before the pro-
visions of this Act shall become effective, the County Com-
missioners and the Board of Election Supervisors of Allegany
County shall submit the question to the qualified voters of
the county at the regular General Election to be held therein
in November, 1952. Said question shall be submitted in the
manner and at the places for holding elections in said county
pursuant to the provisions of Article 33 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland. The ballots or the voting machines, as the case
may be, shall have printed on them a condensed summary of
this Act. Printed on the ballots or voting machine labels,
as the case may be, shall be the words "For Daylight Saving
Time", and "Against Daylight Saving Time", with suitable
provision to be made for the voter to indicate his choice on
said question. If a majority of the persons voting on said
question shall vote "For Daylight Saving Time", then this
Act shall be immediately of full force and effect. If a majority
of the persons voting on said question shall vote "Against
Daylight Saving Time", then this Act shall be void and of no
further effect.
