SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That all the inhabitants
of the territory annexed to the City of Hyattsville by this Act,,
shall, in all respects and to all intents and purposes, be subject
to the powers, jurisdiction and authority vested, or to be vested
by law, in the Mayor and City Council of Hyattsville, and to
all the ordinances now in force in said City, or which may
hereafter be enacted and ordained by it, so far as the same
may be consistent with the provisions of this Act, and the terri-
tory so annexed shall, in all respects be taken and considered
as a part of the municipal corporation of the City of Hyatts-
ville.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That for the purposes of
determining whether the residents of the territory hereinabove
described desire the same to be annexed to the City of Hyatts-
ville, there shall be held an election on a date before June 30,
1951, to be fixed by said Mayor and City Council, and said
Mayor and City Council are hereby appointed a committee for
the purpose of conducting said election.
Not less than seven (7) days before said election, said Mayor
and City Council shall cause a notice thereof to be published
once in a newspaper published in the City of Hyattsville and
shall post in at least three (3) public places within the terri-
tory proposed by this Act to be annexed to the City of Hyatts-
ville, a notice of said election. Said advertisement and posted
notices shall, notify the residents of said territory that there
will be held on said day at a place designated therein or at
some convenient place in the City of Hyattsville between the
hours of five o'clock P. M., and nine o'clock P. M., an election
to determine whether or not said residents desire the territory
described in this Act to be annexed to the City of Hyattsville.
The said Mayor and City Council shall provide a polling place,
ballot boxes, booths and ballots for said election, the costs
thereof to be paid by the City of Hyattsville, which is hereby
authorized to pay the same. The said ballots shall contain the
words "For Annexation to the City of Hyattsville" on one line
and "Against Annexation to the City of Hyattsville" on
another line, with a square opposite each. Except as required
otherwise by this Act, said election shall be conducted, as,
nearly as practicable in the same manner as elections for muni-
cipal officers of the City of Hyattsville. Said committee shall
appoint two (2) judges and two (2) clerks who shall conduct
said election. The said judges and clerks, before undertaking
to perform the duties of their office, shall subscribe to the same
oath as is now administered for judges and clerks in elections
of municipal officers of the City of Hyattsville.
All persons over the age of twenty-one (21) years who
actually reside on the date of said election within the territory
