"Pocomoke City", relating to the appointment of a Deputy
Clerk and authorizing the Mayor and Council to fix the
compensation of certain officers of the town.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 206 of Article 24 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Worcester
County", sub-title "Pocomoke City", be and it is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
206. At the first regular meeting after the annual town
election, that is to say, on the first Monday in May in each
and every year, the Mayor, by and with the advice and approval
of the Council, shall appoint a town clerk, a deputy clerk,
a town treasurer, a superintendent of water works, an attor-
ney, one or more policemen and one or more night watchmen;
provided, that the town treasurer and superintendent of water
works may be members of the Council; and the Mayor and
Council shall fix the compensation of each of said officers by
their unanimous vote or by ordinance, AND SHALL SPECI-
FY, IN SAID ORDINANCE, THE SALARY OF EACH
SUCH OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE BUT SHALL NOT PRE-
SCRIBE ANY SALARY FOR THE SUPERINTENDENT
OF WATER WORKS [; provided, however, that the salary
of said town clerk including all deputy clerks shall not exceed
the sum of fifteen hundred dollars per annum and that the
salary of said town treasurer including all his deputies shall
not exceed the sum of two hundred dollars per annum and
that the salary of said superintendent of water works shall
not exceed the sum of seventy-five dollars per annum].
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1951.

tion system operated by The Baltimore Transit Company.
