ment shall be evidenced by a satisfactory certificate approved
by the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City, directed to the
Treasurer of Baltimore City, advising him of the retirement of
said Bailiff, and that said retirement is in accord with the
provisions of this section.
(b) Every person appointed under the provisions of this
section on and after January 1, 1952, shall become a member
of the Employees' Retirement System of Baltimore and shall
be subject to all the provisions and terms of the ordinances
relating to said system and shall be entitled to all of the rights,
benefits and privileges conferred by said ordinances, and shall
not be entitled to a pension under the provisions of this section.
Nothing in this sub-section shall affect in any way the right
of any person holding a position under the provisions of this
section on December 31, 1951.
(c) On and after January 1, 1952, the compensation of all
persons appointed under the provisions of this section shall be
as provided in the annual Ordinance of Estimates of Baltimore
City; provided, however, that for a period of three years from
January 1, 1952, the compensation of such officers and em-
ployees shall not be less than the compensation provided in
this section.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1951. JANUARY 1, 1952.

(House Bill 344)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 46
of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition), title "Public Education", sub-title "Chapter 4.
County Board of Education", to permit a County Board of
Education to receive a donation of a school site by obtaining
a leasehold interest for a term sufficient to outlast the
probable useful life of any building to be erected thereon.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 46 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of
