residents thereof to have been set aside as a park by reason
of its location; and
WHEREAS, the residents of said community, without
knowledge that said land had not been dedicated as a park,
maintained its upkeep and made it attractive by planting
flowering shrubs and ornamental trees thereupon; and
WHEREAS, the said land was sold by the County Treas-
urer of Prince George's County at the tax sale held at
Upper Marlboro, March 3, 1947, upon the default in pay-
ment of taxes thereupon by the former owner, Alice W.
Millholland, Martha U. Van Vranken, and Kathryn C.
Taylor, and, in the absence of other bids, was bid in by
the county; and
WHEREAS, upon failure of the former owners to exercise
their right of redemption in accordance with law, fore-
closure proceedings were instituted in the Circuit Court
for Prince George's County, as a result of which the county
now has a tax title to the said land; therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Board of County Commissioners of Prince
George's County is hereby authorized and directed to re-
linquish to the citizens of Avondale Grove all the rights,
title and interest of the county acquired under a sale for
delinquent taxes in and to a parcel of vacant land, desig-
nated as Block 7 on the plat of said subdivision of Septem-
ber 25, 1940, subject to the condition that said land is to
be used exclusively as a public park for the benefit of the
citizens of said community and that the upkeep thereof will
be perpetually maintained by the residents of said com-
munity without expense to the county.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect on June 1, 1951.
