WHEREAS, the Talbot and Queen Anne's Clubs have be-
come interested in the restoration of the little brick house
under the Wye Oak and have offered to provide some of the
funds necessary for this work; and
WHEREAS, the said clubs, before undertaking this work,
would like to have some assurance as to the future main-
tenance of the building and grounds after such restoration;
and
WHEREAS, the most satisfactory procedure would seem
to be to authorize the Board of Public Works to enter into
a written agreement with the said clubs relative to this
question; now therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Board of Public Works be and it is hereby au-
thorized to enter into a written agreement with the Talbot
and Queen Anne's Garden Clubs for the restoration of the
little brick house under Wye Oak and for the maintenance
of said building and grounds; the Board of Public Works is
hereby authorized to provide in said agreement for a con-
tribution of one thousand dollars ($1000. 00) towards the
restoration of said building and may provide for the up-
keep of said building and grounds by some agency of the
State or by a contract, and may also provide in said agree-
ment that if the said house is sold, the funds contributed
by the said garden clubs toward its restoration shall be
returned to said clubs or the said garden clubs shall have
an option to purchase said house at the highest bidder's
price less the amounts contributed by said garden clubs
toward its restoration.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1951.
