was erected into a College, by the name and title of
Mount Saint Mary's College, whereby the property,
real and personal, belonging to the same, became ex-
empt from taxation; and whereas, taxes have notwith-
standing been levied upon and paid by said College
for such property: — Therefore,

CHAP. 339.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the levy court of Frederick county be, and it is
hereby required, in its next annual assessment, to as-
sess and levy, upon the taxable property of said coun-
ty, the sum of one hundred and fourteen dollars nine-
ty-five cents, with interest thereon from the first day
of May, eighteen hundred and thirty-four, until the
same shall be paid, and shall pay over the same, when
collected, to the order of the President of the afore-
said College.

An act for the benefit of George Hilderbrand.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the judges of the orphan's court of Washington
county, and the judges of the Washington county
court, respectively, be, and they are hereby authorised
and empowered to grant to George. Hilderbrand the
benefit of the several acts of Assembly passed for the
relief of insolvent debtors; provided, the said George
Hilderbrand shall, in all respects, (except proving re-
sidence,) comply with the requisitions of said acts of
Assembly, and that he satisfy said judges that he did
not come into this State with a view of obtaining the
benefit of said insolvent laws; and provided, that the
said George Hilderbrand shall be compelled to file his
petition for the benefit of the said insolvent laws.
