CHAP. 320.

Record of atten-
dance.

day, they shall not receive more than one day's pay.
SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the Book-keeper shall
keep a record of the attendance of paid agents and di-
rectors, as directors and as members of the Monthly
Committee, and they shall be paid for their services
according to the entries in said record.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That the directors, war-
den, assistant warden, agent and all other officers of
the said penitentiary, shall perform and discharge all
and singular the duties that may be assigned them re-
spectively by this or any subsequent act of Assembly,
or by the rules and regulations of the Board of Direc-
tors, hereafter to be adopted, and not inconsistent
with the provisions of law, or the rules and regula-

tions hereinafter established; and if any of them wil-
fully omit or refuse to discharge any duty appertain-
ing to his office, after having accepted the said appoint-
ment, he or she shall he dismissed from office, and ho
subject to a fine of not less than thirty dollars, and
not more than five hundred dollars, to be recovered at
the instance of the Board of Directors, in the name
of the State, for the use of the said Penitentiary, be-
fore any justice of the peace or court having juris-
tion, as small debts are now collected.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That the said agents,
warden, book-keeper, assistant warden, and the other
officers, before entering upon the discharge of the du-
ties of their respective offices, shall execute bonds to

management of the said penitentiary; the two former
(that is the agent and warden, ) in the sum of ten
thousand dollars each, and the book-keeper in the
sum of five thousand dollars, the assistant warden in

in the sum of one thousand dollars respectively, con-
ditioned for the faithful performance of the duties re-
quired of them respectively by the laws of this State,
and the rules and regulations that may be adopted,
from time to time, for the government of the said pen-
