CHAPTER 395.

Passed Mar. 29,
1838.

An act to authorise the Commissioners of Washington
County to build a Bridge over the Antietam Creek,
at Lewis Zeiglir's Ford.

authorised.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Commissioners of Washington county be, and
they are hereby authorised, at their discretion, to
cause to be erected over Antietam creek, upon the best
practicable site, at or near Lewis Zeglir's ford, on
the road leading from Greencastle, Pennsylvania, to
Baltimore, a substantial stone bridge, upon such
plan, terms and conditions, and under such superin-
tendence as they may deem most conducive to the pub-
lic interest; and thai they he, and are hereby autho-

rised to levy, on the assessable property of said coun-
ty, such sum or sums of money as they shall deem ne-
cessary to defray all the expenses in erecting said
bridge.

1838.

An act for the benefit of Mary Manning, of Washing-
ton County.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, it has been represented to the General
Assembly of Maryland, that Mary Manning, of
Washington county, was, in the year eighteen hun-
dred and twenty-nine, united in lawful wedlock to a
certain Wesley Manning, who lived with her five
years, and had three children by her, all of whom are
living, and dependent upon said mother for their sup-
port; that some time in the year eighteen hundred and
thirty-four, the said Wesley Manning absented himself
from home, and removed to parts unknown; that from
that period up to this time the said Wesley Manning
has not been heard of; that sometime in the year of
eighteen hundred and thirty-seven, her father, Jacob
Sager, died, having made his will in due form, and
bequeathed a certain distribution of his estate to his
daughter, Mary Manning, and in that will appointed
