CHAPTER 286.

CHAP. 287.

An act to authorise the Levy Court of Worcester County
to change the place of holding the Election in certain

districts it said county.

Passed Mar. 29,
1838.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Levy Court of Worcester county be, and they
are hereby authorised to change the place of holding
the election in what is called Costons, or the first elec-
tion district, and in Nutters, or the eighth district,
provided they can select places more suitable lor that
purpose.

CHAPTER 287.

Authority given.

An act regulating Damages in cases of suits for Tres-
pass done by Stock, so far as relates la Baltimore
County.

Passed Mar. 29,
1838.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and alter the first day of June,
eighteen hundred and thirty-eight, all damages claimed
for trespass done by stock, shall be made within ten
cays after such trespass shall have been made.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That upon complaint
being made to any acting justice of the peace, for tres-
pass committed by horses, hogs, sheep, or any other
kind of stockpile shall forthwith summons two well
qualified, impartial and disinterested persons to ex-
amine into the extent of damages done, and value or
assess the same, to the best of their judgments, and if

it shall be found that the fence or fences of the com-
plainant are of ordinary good height and structure, the
party so injured shall or may proceed to recover the
damages as awarded in the mode and manner as at
present prescribed by law.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the persons so
acting shall be required to make oath or affirmation,
as the case may be, and if upon close examination the
