CHAP. 192.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the said trustees, or
their successors, shall meeting four times in every year,
in stated quarterly meetings, and the said board of
trustees shall elect from amongst their own number, a
president, secretary and treasurer; and all business

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the board of trustees
shall have full power and authority to make contracts
with the professors or teachers relative to the instruc-
tion of the scholars to be placed under their care and
the payment of their salaries; to hear and determine
upon all complaints and appeals and other matters
touching the discipline and government of the said aca-
demy; and generally to manage the state and concerns
of the institution in such manner as they shall deem

best for its advantage, and any professor, teacher or
assistant against whom any charge or complaint shall
be alleged, shall have the privilege to appear before
the trustees and defend himself, the trustees first giv-
ing him notice in writing, setting forth the nature of the
charge or complaint.

Complaints.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That the said board of
trustees and their successors shall hold two public ex-
aminations annually, at such time as may be agreed
upon by the said board, or professors, with a view to
test the progress of the students of said academy, and
to visit it regularly once a month, to ascertain the con-
dition, discipline and management of the same.

Examinations.

An act to authorise the commissioners of Harford county
to settle certain claims therein mentioned.
