CHAP. 194.

be, and they are hereby authorised to pay any just
claims for services rendered by certain justices of the
peace and jurors in the holding of an inquest, in the year
eighteen hundred and thirty seven, over the dead body of
|

Proviso.
|
Benjamin Giles, provided, that the allowances therefor
shall not exceed the rates allowed by law for such ser-
vices in the case of inquests held by coroners, and
that the said commissioners shall first be satisfied that
such services were lawful and proper.
|
|
|
Levy authorised.
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That in order to satisfy the
claims aforesaid, the said commissioners are hereby
empowered to levy a sum sufficient therefor, on the as-
sessable property of said county.

A further additional supplement to the act, entitled, an
act to provide for the public instruction of youth in
Primary Schools throughout this State.

School district
may erect se-
parate Female
School.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, it shall
and may be lawful for the inhabitants of any school
district in this State, at any annual meeting or special
meeting called agreeably to the provisions of the law
to which this is a supplement, to provide for the estab-
lishment of a separate female school within the limits
of such district, which school shall be under the di-
rection of the trustees of suck school district, and in
the same manner as the other school in such district is
or may be supported.
