as to throw a part of the sixth district into the first: —

Alteration.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the line between district number one and six shall
be so altered, by commencing at Peter Showman's
schoolhouse, running thence with the road to William
Lewis' blacksmith shop, and thence with said road to
the division line of said election districts.

An act to authorise the Commissioners of Washington
county to appoint Judges and fix the places of hold-
ing the elections in the ninth election district in said
county.
|

Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, by an act passed December session eigh-
teen hundred and thirty-six, chapter one hundred and
forty-eight, and confirmed by this General Assembly,
creating a new election district in said county to be
composed of part of third and seventh districts; and
whereas, no power being vested in the commissioners
of said county to fix the place of holding the election
nor for the appointment of judges: — Therefore,

Direction given.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That as soon as the commissioners appointed by law
to lay out said election district, shall have made their
return to Washington county court agreeable to the
provisions of said law, it shall be the duty of the com-
missioners of Washington county to fix upon the place
for holding the elections in said district, and to appoint
three judges to conduct the same.
