all such lawful acts and pass all such by-laws as shall
be necessary to the exercise of the powers vested in
them by this act, and to effect the benevolent object of
their association.

Bind out or-
phans.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the trustees, or any
two of them, when requested by the board of mana-
gers, he, and they are hereby authorised and empow-
ered to bind out the orphans under their charge, till
they shall attain the age of eighteen years, or be
married.

|
Wages over 14
years.
|
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty
of said trustees, in binding out said children, to re-
quire wages for their services after they attain the age
of sixteen years, to be paid over to the said orphans
when they shall be respectively entitled to their dis-
charge from service; provided, that nothing be consi-
dered as abridging the security afforded to "such per-
sons by the laws concerning apprentices.

Feme sole.
|
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That any married wo-
man contributing to said society, according to the by-
laws thereof, shall have and enjoy all the rights of
voting and acting as members and officers of said so-
ciety, as if she were a feme sole.
