CHAPTER 14.

CHAP. 15.

An act to change the name of Charles Ricketts, of Somer-
set county, to that of Charles Evans.

Passed Jan. 26,
1838.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the name of Charles Ricketts, of So-
merset county, be and is hereby changed and altered to
the name of Charles Evans, and it shall and may be
lawful for the said Charles Ricketts at all times here-
after, to be called and known by, and hold and use the
name of Charles Evans, and by that name to sue and
be sued, in any court of law or equity.

Name changed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all securities, pro-
mises, contracts, assurances, deeds, and lawful acts
whatsoever, hereafter to be made and done by the
mime of Charles Evans, shall be of the same force and
effect, and equally avail to all intents and purposes, as
if the name of Charles Evans, had been the original
and proper name of the said Ricketts.

CHAPTER 15.

Contracts con-
firmed.

An act to authorise and empower Commissioners to
open an Alley in Westminster, in Carroll county.

Passed Jan. 25,
1828.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Maryland, That John Fisher, William Grumbine, and
William Shipley, Junior, or a majority of them, be and
they are hereby appointed commissioners, to open and
lay out a twenty foot Alley, in the town of Westmin-
ster, commencing at a point on Store Alley, two hun-
dred and fourteen feet from the Main street, and run-
ning thence parallel with the Main street, to inter-
sect the street laid out and intended to run from the
Main street, to the scite selected for the court house;
and if in their opinion the convenience of the citizens
of said town, would thereby be promoted, they are
hereby authorised and empowered, to open said Alley
by running as aforesaid.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That before the commis-
sioners proceed to the discharge of the duties herein
