RESOLUTIONS.

thousand and eight dollars and fifteen cents, to be by said
clerk paid over to the commissioners of said county, to be
by them applied to defray the expenses incurred in the
prosecution of the rioters on the Chesapeake and Ohio
canal in said county, who were tried at the last October
term of said court.

Resolution relating the several Academies in Kent County.
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the donation heretofore paid to Washington college, in
Kent county, and which is divided by a resolution of the
legislature in eighteen hundred and thirty-four, number
sixty-four, between the said college and Millington acade-
my, shall hereafter be divided in the following manner, to
wit: to Washington college, in Chestertown, five hundred
dollars; to Millington academy, two hundred dollars; and
to Shrewsbury academy, in Georgetown Cross Roads, one
hundred dollars; and the Treasurer of the Western Shore
is hereby authorised and required to pay the said dona-
tions to the trustees of the aforesaid college and acade-
mies or their orders respectively, annually hereafter, and
the trustees of the said academies are hereby required to
educate three indigent children for each one hundred dol-
lars so received.

Resolution in favor of William Benson.
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the fine imposed on William Benson, of Worcester county
court, at the November term, eighteen hundred and thirty-
nine, charged with an assault and battery on a certain Ro-
bert Lamden, be remitted, and the said William Benson
be released and discharged from the payment thereof.
Resolved, That the sheriff of Worcester county, be and
he is hereby authorised and required to discharge the said
William Benson from imprisonment; provided, he be not
in custody for any other offence, nor committed on other
process.
