of Washington county, bearing date the fourth day of
April, eighteen hundred and twelve, and recorded in liber
Y. folio one hundred and seventeen, one of the land record
books of Washington county, be and the same is hereby
made valid to all intents and purposes, as much so as if
the same had been witnessed by two subscribing witnes-
ses, agreeably to the act of Assembly passed at November
session seventeen hundred and ninety-six, chapter sixty-
seven, section twenty-nine, as said act requires, notwith-
standing said deed of manumission was witnessed by one
witness, contrary to the provisions of said act.

An act for the relief of George Y. Kelso.
|

|
WHEREAS, it appears to this General Assembly, that
George Y. Kelso desires to introduce in this State two
slaves therein mentioned, for the convenience of his fami-
ly, who have always been and now are residents of this
State — Therefore,
|
Preamble.
|
|
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland.
That George Y. Kelso, be and he is hereby authorised to
introduce into this State, two slaves for life, named Caro-
|

troduce slaves.
|

|
line Bennet and Ellen Can; provided, the said George Y.
Kelso shall, within thirty days from the time of introducing
said slaves, file with the clerk of Baltimore county court,
a description of said slaves, slating their ages, with an af-
fidavit thereto annexed, stating that the same is a true and
faithful description of said slaves, and that they are not
removed into this State for the purpose of sale, and that
they are his slaves for life; and provided also, the said
George Y. Kelso shall pay over to the clerk of Baltimore
county court thirty dollars, for the use of the colonization
society of this State.
