Proviso.

of said plantation; provided, that the gates shall be well
constructed and kept in good repair, so as not to impede
the travelling on said road; and they shall not be allowed
to remain longer than the first day of May, eighteen hun-

An act to authorise the Commissioners for Montgomery
County to levy a sum of money to compensate certain
Bridge Commissioners therein mentioned.

Levy authorised.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners for Montgomery county, be and
they are hereby authorised to levy a sum of money which
they may deem sufficient, to compensate William P. Pal-
mer and Caleb Stabler for services rendered by them as
commissioners on the part of said county, appointed by
the act of December session eighteen hundred and thirty-
seven, chapter two hundred and twenty-five, entitled an
net for building a bridge over the Patuxenl river at Brown's
Ford in said county.

An act in aid of the construction of an Out-Let Lock of
the Tide Water Canal, at Bell's Ferry, in Harford
County, immediately opposite to Port Deposit, in Cecil
County.

Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, on the sixth day of April, eighteen hundred
Susquehanna Canal, and of the Tide Water Canal, chap-
ter four hundred and sixteen, section four, providing for
the building of an Out-let lock at Bell's ferry, opposite
Port Deposit; provided nevertheless, that if the cost and
expense of the construction of said Out let, thereby direc-
ted to be made, shall necessarily exceed the sum of fifteen
thousand dollars, the said company shall not be required
to construct the same, or to enter into any contract for that
purpose until the excess above the sum of fifteen thou-
sand dollars shall have been contributed by the citizens
of Cecil county, or others, or satisfactorily received to the
