Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Robert H. Matthews, of Somerset county, be and
he is hereby divorced from his wife Sarah Matthews, a
vinculo matrimonii.

An act for the relief of John Erb, of Carroll County.
|

1840.

|
WHEREAS, it has been represented to this General
Assembly, by the petition of John Erb, of Carroll county,
that Abraham Bankert and Magdalena his wife, two aged
and destitute persons of said county, have been entirely
dependant on him for support for a number of years past,
which has proved so burdensome to him as to induce the
said petitioner to apply for assistance: — Therefore,

Preamble.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners of tax of Carroll county are
hereby authorised, in their discretion, to levy upon the
assessable property in said county, any sum of money
not exceeding sixty dollars, nor less than thirty dollars,
and to pay the same to the said John Erb,to be applied by
him for the support and maintenance of the said Abraham
Bankert and Magdalena his wife, in lieu of any other
pension which may have been granted heretofore to the
said Abraham Bankert.

An act to allow William J. Johnson, of Montgomery Coun-
ty, to erect Gates on a public road in said county.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That William J. Johnson, of Montgomery county, be and
he is hereby authorised to erect two gates on the public
road that passes through his plantation, within the limits
|
