SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all securities, promises,
contracts, assurances, deeds and lawful acts whatsoever,
heretofore made or done, or hereafter to be made by or to
the Sarah Boots, by the name of Sarah Ingram, shall be
of full force and effect, any law or usage to the contrary
notwithstanding.

Acts confirmed.

An act to authorise Doctor Panna, to bring into this State,
four Negroes.

1840.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Doctor Panna, of the city of Baltimore, be and he
is hereby authorised to bring into the State of Maryland
from the State of Virginia, four negroes, slaves for life,

the property of the said Doctor Panna; provided, that the
said Doctor Panna shall, within thirty days after the remo-
val of said slaves or either of them into this State, file
with the clerk of the county into which said negroes are
introduced, a list or lists of the said slave or slaves so re-
moved; stating their ages, with an affidavit thereto at-
tached, that the same is a true and faithful list or lists of
the said slave or slaves so removed; and that the said Doctor
Panna hath not removed the said slave or slaves into this
State for the purpose of sale, and that each of said ne-
groes is a slave for life; and provided also, that the sum of
fifteen dollars for each slave between the age of twelve
and forty-five years, and the sum of five dollars for each
slave above the age of forty-five and under twelve years
of age, so brought into the State, shall be paid to the clerk
of the county court, at the time of giving such list, to be
paid over by him to the Treasurer of the Western Shore,
for the use and benefit of the colonization society of the
State.
