CHAP 61.

To lay off into

school districts.

Report proceed-

ings.

Record thereof.

Compensation.

county, be and they are hereby authorised and direct-
ed to appoint at their next regular meeting, six com-
missioners, one to be chosen from each election district
in said county, whose duty it shall be to divide the
said county into so many school districts as the public
interest and convenience may require, and report their
proceedings to said levy court under oath; and it shall
be the duty of said levy court to record in a suitable
book to be provided for that purpose, the report and
proceedings of said commissioners, who shall be paid

for their services such compensation as the said levy

court may in their discretion allow.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That as soon as the said
commissioners shall have laid out the said school dis-
tricts and made a report of their said proceedings, the
said levy court shall appoint on the levy laying day, in
the year eighteen hundred and thirty-nine and annual-
ly thereafter, twelve persons, two to be chosen from

each election district in said county, who shall be trus-

trees of the school fund for said county, and whose
duty it shall be to contract for and superintend the

tees shall have power to condemn any land, on which
to erect said school houses for the public use, and to
value the same, the owner or owners of which shall be
paid therefor, according to said valuation in the man-
ner hereinafter provided for.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the said trustees
shall have power to draw upon the Orphan's Court of
said county for such sum or sums of money, parcel of
said school fund, as may be necessary to discharge all
or any portion of said expenses, and for the payment

of the valuation of all such land as may have been con-

demned by them for the purposes aforesaid, which said

to the persons respectively entitled thereto, and the
