W. Bennett, and Caleb M. Jones, be, and they are
hereby appointed commissioners of primary schools
for the first election district; Richard Thomas, Corne-
lius Coombs, and John Holton, for the second; Wil-
liam Floyd, Bennett Gough and William T. Maddox,
for the third; James Schammell, Benedict I. Heard,
and Richard H. Miles, for the fourth; and George Tho-
mas, John H. Sothoron, and Robert Davis, for the fifth;

and it shall he their duty, on or before the second
Monday in June next, to return in writing to the com-
missioners for St. Mary's county, an account of their

proceedings, together with a description and number
of each school district in their respective election dis-
tricts, and a list of the names of the trustees appointed
by them for each respectively, all which shall be re-
ceived and recorded by the clerk of the county commis-
sioners in a book, kept for that purpose.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That in case any one, or
more of the commissioners of primary schools above
named in any election district, shall refuse, or neglect
to comply with the provisions of this act, on or before
the second Monday of June next, then it shall be the
duty of the commissioners for St. Mary's county, at their
first regular meeting, or at any special meeting thereaf-

ter, to appoint one or more persons as the case may be,

friendly to the cause of primary schools, residents of
the respective election districts where such vacancy
occurs, who shall in their stead act as commissioners
of primary schools.
