other operations as may grow out of, or be connected
with the said business, and the said corporation under
the name and style of the Centreville Maryland Silk
Company, is hereby invested with all the rights and
privileges and powers conferred upon such companies,

CHAP. 352.

by an act, entitled, an act prescribing general regula-
tions for the incorporation of manufacturing and mining
companies, passed the twenty-eighth day of March,
eighteen hundred and thirty-nine, and the said compa-
ny is hereby made subject to the restrictions and regu-
lations prescribed in said act.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the capital stock of
said company shall not be less than five thousand dol-
lars, nor more than one hundred thousand dollars, to
be divided into shares of fifty dollars each, to be raised
by subscription, and that the said company, shall have
the right to purchase and hold land, not exceeding one
thousand acres, in Queen Anne's county.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall be in
force from the passage thereof.

CHAPTER 352.

In force.

An act to confirm and make valid the acts of Stephen
Roach, as Justice of the Peace, in and for Worcester
county, from eighteen hundred and thirty-three to
eighteen hundred and thirty-eight, inclusive.

Passed April 2,
1839.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assem-
bly, that Stephen Roach, has been regularly appointed
by the Governor and Council, a justice of the peace
in and for Worcester county, from the year eighteen
hundred and thirty-three to eighteen hundred and
thirty eight, inclusive; and whereas, it is also repre-
sented that no certificate of his (the said Stephen's)
qualification as justice of the peace as aforesaid, can
be found filed in the office of the clerk of Worcester
county court, for that period; and whereas, great in-
justice and inconvenience might ensue to parties in-
terested, growing out of this omission: — Therefore.

Preamble.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
