Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the time within which ten thousand shares of
stock were required to be subscribed to the capital
stock of the Eastern Bank of Baltimore, in pursuance
til the first day of April, eighteen hundred and forty-
two and if said amount be subscribed on or before that
day, then and in that case, said charter shall be deem-
ed and taken to be in full force and operation.

An act to incorporate the Elkton Lyceum.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assem-
bly by memorial in writing, that the Revered William
Duke, and a number of the inhabitants of Elkton in
Cecil county, have formed themselves into a society
called by them, the Elkton Lyceum, for the purpose of
general improvement in literature, science, the me-
chanic arts, and all the branches of useful education,
with a library, and cabinet of minerals, and other na- -
tural curiosities to be connected with and form a part
of the institution, and whereas, it is in the opinion of
this General Assembly, the true policy of the State, to
encourage and assist enterprises of the kind: — There-
