CHAP. 309.

ence should require the same,

CHAPTER 308.

Passed April 2,
1839.

A supplement to the act passed December session 1834,
chapter 298, relating to the Public Roads, in St.
Mary's County.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, it has been shown by experience that the
Levy Court of St. Mary's county, have not been able
to let out by contract, the roads of said county, in the
manner provided for in the first section of the act to
which this is a supplement: — Therefore.

Authority to ap-
point supervisors.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners of St. Mary's county, are
hereby authorised and empowered, in their discretion,
to appoint fit and proper persons to be supervisors of
the public road in said county, within such divisions
and districts as shall be specified and assigned by the

hereby authorised to employ hands on such terms, re-
gulations and restrictions, as said commissioners may
prescribe and direct, to keep said roads, or divisions
in repair.

Levy authorised.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
aforesaid are hereby authorised and required to levy
upon the assessable property of said county, such sum,
or sums of money as may be necessary for the purpo-
ses of the act.

CHAPTER 309.

Passed Mar. 29,
1839.

An additional supplement to the act, entitled an act to
Incorporate tie Town of Centreville, in queen Ann's
County.

May hold estate.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners of said town, and their suc-
cessors in office, be, and they are hereby vested with
