CHAP. 269.

said county, nine hundred and forty-four dollars and
sixty-six rents, to carry into effect the provisions of
the act, entitled, an act relating to the people of colour
in this State, and it being just and right that the tax
levied upon Frederick county, for the purpose afore-
said, should be reduced in proportion to the reduction
of the assessable property of the county by the erection
of Carroll county aforesaid; and whereas, the levy
court of Frederick county refused to levy for the year
eighteen hundred and thirty-seven, a larger sum than
seven hundred and twenty-eight dollars, said sum being
the proportion of Frederick county, since a portion of
her territory has been included in Carroll county: —
Therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the levy court of Frederick county
shall, annually hereafter, levy upon the assessable
property of said county, and cause to to collected the
sum of seven hundred and twenty-eight dollars, and no
more, for the purpose of carrying into effect the pro-
visions of an act, entitled, an act relating to the people
of colour in this State, passed at December session,
eighteen hundred and thirty-one, chapter two hundred
and eighty-one, to which this is a further supplement,
and the said levy court are hereby required to pay, or

cause to be paid annually hereafter, to the Treasurer

of the Western Shore, the sum hereinbefore mentioned,
and no more, for the purposes aforesaid; any other
law to the contrary notwithstanding.

Levy heretofore

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the act of the levy
court of Frederick county, in refusing to levy more
than the said sum of seven hundred and twenty eight
dollars, the fall proportion of said county, be, and the
same is hereby confirmed, and rendered valid and
binding.

Levy of $260 on

Carroll county.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty
of the commissioners of the tax for Carroll county, to
levy upon the assessable property of said county the

same to the Treasurer of the Western Shore of Mary-
land, for the use of the Maryland State Colonization
Society, being the proportion omitted last year to bo
