CHAPTER 182.

CHAP. 183.

An act for the relief of E. B. Estes, of the City of
Baltimore.

Passed Mar. 12,

1839.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That E. B. Estes, be, and he is hereby authorized to
introduce into this State, and hold as slaves, the fol-
lowing negro slaves, to wit: Julia Ann Carroll, and

Authorised to in-

troduce slaves.

Albert Strather; provided, the said E. B. Estes, with-
in sixty days from the passage of this act, shall file
with the clerk of Baltimore county court, a descrip-
tion of such negro slaves, stating their ages, with an

affidavit thereto annexed, stating that the same is a

true and faithful description of such negroes, and that
they are not removed into this State, for the purpose
of sale, and that they are slaves for life; and provided
also, that the said E. B. Estes, pay over to the clerk
of Baltimore county court, the sums required to be
paid under the act, passed at December session eighteen
hundred and thirty-three, chapter eighty-seven, for the
use of the Maryland Colonization Society.

CHAPTER 183.

Proviso.

An act for the relief of Lorenzo Norvell, of the City of
Baltimore

Passed Mar. 12,

1839.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Lorenzo Norvell be. and he is hereby authorized
to introduce into this State, and hold as slaves, the
following negro slaves, to wit: Shelton Norvell and

Authorised to in-

troduce slaves.

Sarah Merchant; provided the said Lorenzo Norvell,
Within sixty days from the passage of this act, shall
file with the clerk of Baltimore county court, a de-
scription of such negro slaves, stating their ages, with
an affidavit thereto annexed, stating that the same is a
true and faithful description of such negroes, and that
they are not removed into this State for the purpose of
sale, and that they are slaves for life; and provided
also, that the said Lorenzo Norvell pay over to the
clerk of Baltimore county court, the sums required to
be paid under the act passed at December session
