An act to lay out and open a road in Prince George's
County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That John Bowie, Hanson Penn, John S.
Dodson, William F. Deckins and John Davis, of Prince
George's county, be, and the same are hereby appoint-
|

|
To lay out.

ed commissioners to survey, lay out and open a road,
not exceeding thirty feet in width, commencing at the
point, (on the road leading from Washington city, by
the Powder Factory, Ellicott's Mills, &c., to Balti-
more) where the old road from Bladensburg, inter-
sected said road and running thence in the direction of
Bladensburg, as nearly along the course of the old road
the land holders, through whose lands the said road
may pass, will permit, until it intersects the Washing-
ton and Baltimore Turnpike road, at or near the town
of Bladensburg; ami the said road, when so opened,

after.

shall be deemed thereafter, a public road, and be kept
in repair in the same manner as other public roads are
in said county.

Account of expens-
es.
|
Sec. 2. And, be it enacted, That the levy court of
Prince George's county, be, and they are hereby au-
thorised and directed, on receiving from said road
commissioners, or a majority of them, an account, on
oath, of the expenses of surveying, laying out and open-
ing said road, including two dollars per day to the

road commissioners for their services, to levy the same
on the assessable property of said county, at their next
annual levy to be collected as other county charges are
now collected.

|
Assess damages.
|
Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the aforementioned
commissioners, or a majority of them, shall value and
ascertain the damages that may be sustained by any
person or persons, through whose land the said road
may be made to pass, and that the damages, so ascer-
tained, shall be levied, assessed and collected, as other
