CHAP. CVIII.
An ACT to make public a road in Montgomery county.
BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the road which is now used from Ed-
wards's ferry, on Patowmack river, to the public road leading through the Sugar land Bottom
from the mouth of Seneca to Conrad's ferry, be, and the same is hereby declared to be, a public road,
and shall be kept up as other public roads in said county are.

An ACT to authorise a lottery to raise a sum of money for building
a church for the use of the German lutheran and presbyterian con-
gregations in or near the village of Boonsborough, in Washington
county.

A scheme may-
be proposed,
&c.
|
BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That it shall and may be lawful for George
Scott, John Brandner, Henry Nyman, John Ludy, Henry Locher, junior, and George Trout-
man, or a majority of them, to propose a scheme of a lottery for raising a sum of money, not exceed-
ing two thousand six hundred dollars, and to dispose of the tickets thereof; provided the said George
Scott, John Brandner, Henry Nyman, John Ludy, Henry Locher, junior, and George Troutman,
or such majority of them as shall undertake to act under this law, shall, before the sale or disposal
of any ticket or tickets in said lottery, give their bond to the state of Maryland, in the penalty of
four thousand dollars, conditioned that they will well and truly apply so much of the money arising
therefrom, within six months after the drawing of said lottery shall commence, as will satisfy the
fortunate adventurers for prizes drawn by them, and after deducting the necessary expenses incurred
in said lottery, shall, within twelve months from the time the drawing of said lottery shall com-
mence, apply the money raised by such lottery to the building of the German lutheran and presby-
terian church.

Bond to be
lodged, &c.

II. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be the duty of the said commissioners, before they act as
such, to lodge the bond made and entered into as aforesaid in the office of the clerk of Washington
county court, there to be recorded, and upon such bond, or any office copy thereof, suit or suits
may be instituted against the obligors therein, or any of them, or their legal representatives, for any
breach or noncompliance with the condition of the same.
CHAP. CX.

An ACT to empower the executive to purchase arms for the use of
the militia of this state, and for other purposes therein mentioned.
|
Muskets, &c.
to be annually
provided, &c
|
BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That for the space of five years after the
first day of November next, there shall be annually provided, at the expense of this state,
twelve hundred good and serviceable muskets or firelocks, with a bayonet and cartridge box to each,
also two six pound iron field-pieces complete, also fifty brace of horsemens pistols, and one hundred
horsemens swords complete, for the use of the militia when occasion may require, to be deposited
at such suitable and convenient places as the executive may direct.

Executive to
contract, &c.
|
II. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the executive are hereby authorised and required to contract for
and procure the aforesaid arms and accoutrements for the use of this state, and to publish for the
information of the mechanics of the state of Maryland, and others, willing to contract for the whole,
or any part thereof; that at the time of contracting they must exhibit a pattern of the particular
kind of arms or accoutrements designed to be contracted for.

the muskets,
&c.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the muskets or firelocks to be procured under the provision of
this act, shall be of the same caliber and dimensions as those described by the act of congress, and
now made for the use of the United States.

Executive to
draw on the
treasury, &c.
|
IV. AND BE IT ENACTED, That in order to effectuate the objects of this act, the executive are
hereby authorised to draw from the treasury of the western shore annually, for the space of five
years after the first day of November next, any sum not exceeding fifteen thousand dollars, out; of
any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
