NOVEMBER. LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP.
LIX.

ty in a said county, a sum of money, such as they shall deem necessary, under all circumstances, and
to appoint an overseer to open and clear said road agreeably to the plot and certificate aforesaid, who
shall give bond in like manner as other overseers of public roads are directed to give bond, and shall
have the same allowance; and the said road, when opened and cleared as aforesaid, shall be deemed,
and the same is hereby declared to be thereafter, a public road, and shall be kept in repair as other
public roads in said county.

Allowance to
commissioners,
&c.

IV. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the commissioners respectively herein before named shall be en-
titled to receive two dollars for every day they shall severally attend to discharge the duties required
by this act, which are hereby directed to be levied, collected and paid, as other county charges are
levied, collected and paid.

CHAP. LX.

Passed 23d of
Dec. 1808.

A Further additional supplement to an act, entitled, An act for erect-
ing buildings for the use of the poor in Queen-Anne's county, and
for other purposes.

Justices to levy
money, &c.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the justices of the levy court of Queen-
Anne's county be and they are hereby authorised and empowered to assess and levy, on the
assessable property in said county, at the time of laying the next county levy, a sum of money, not
exceeding two thousand dollars, together with six per cent, for collecting the same, for the purpose
of finishing the buildings for the use and accommodation of the poor of said county.

Trustees to de-
mand monies,
&c.

II. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the trustees of the poor for Queen-Anne's county, as commissi-
oners appointed in the original act to which this is a supplement, or a majority of them, shall be and
they are hereby authorised and empowered, to demand and receive from the collector of said county
all monies levied and assessed in pursuance of this act, as soon as the same shall become due by law;
and in case the collector shall refuse or neglect to pay the same, the said commissioners shall have
the same remedy for recovering the same as is prescribed by the firth section of the said original act
to which this is a supplement.

CHAP. LXI.

Passed 23d of
Dec. 1808.

An ACT authorising Jasper E. Tilly, late sheriff of Anne-Arundel
county, to complete his collection.

J. E. Tilly may
collect, &c.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the said Jasper E. Tilly be and he is
hereby authorised and empowered to collect, until the first day of January, eighteen hundred
and ten, all balances due him as sheriff of Anne-Arundel county for the year eighteen hundred and
six, in the same manner as he could or might have done within the time limitted by law, any law
to the contrary notwithstanding.

To deliver an
account, &c.

II. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be the duty of the said Jasper E. Tilly, before he pro-
ceeds to execute or distrain the property of any person or persons for officers fees in virtue of this
act, to deliver to such person chargeable with the same, at least thirty days previous to levying such
execution or distress, an account, written in words at full length, of officers fees demanded of him,
her or them, with an affidavit annexed, if required, that he, nor any other person far his use, hath
not received any part thereof, nor any thing as security or satisfaction for the same, more than cre-
dit given, to the best of his knowledge.

Books to be
lodged, &c.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said Jasper E. Tilly, before he derives any benefit from or
under this act, shall lodge a copy of his collection books in the clerk's office of Anne-Arundel coun-
ty, to be opened for the inspection of all persons interested in the same.

CHAP. LXII.

Passed 23d of
Dec. 1808.

An ACT authorising Benjamin Ray, late sheriff and collector of
Montgomery county, to complete his collection.

B. Ray to col-
lect, &c.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the said Benjamin Ray be and he is
hereby authorised and empowered to collect, until the first day of January, eighteen hundred
and ten, all balances due him as sheriff and collector of Montgomery county for the year eighteen
hundred and six, in the same manner as he could or might have done within the time limitted by law,
any law to the contrary notwithstanding.
