CHAP. LV.

An ACT annulling the marriage of William Hines, and Mary his
wife, of Washington county.

Dec. 1808.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the marriage of the said William Hines,
and Mary his wife, heretofore solemnized, be, and the same is hereby declared to be, absolutely,
to all intents and purposes, null and void; and the said William Hines, and Mary his wife, are de-
clared to be divorced a vinculo matrimonii.
CHAP. LVI.

Marriage de-
clared void.

An ACT annulling the marriage of Charles H. Tunis, and Harriet
his wife, of Anne-Arundel county.

Dec. 1808.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the marriage of the said Charles H.
Tunis, and Harriet His wife, heretofore solemnized, be, and the same is hereby declared to be,
absolutely, and to all intents and purposes, null and void; and the said Charles H. Tunis, and Har-
riet his wife, are hereby declared to be divorced a vinculo matrimonii; provided always, that nothing
in this act contained shall be construed to illegitimate the children of the said Charles H. Tunis, and
Harriet his wife, born prior to the passage of this act.

CHAP. LVII.

Marriage de-
clared void.

An ACT to alter and change the name of Catherine Dimmett to
Catherine Ringgold.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the name of the said Catherine Dim-
mett is hereby changed to Catherine Ringgold, and that she shall hereafter bear and carry, and
shall by the same be known and distinguished, to all intents and purposes whatsoever.

CHAP. LVIII.

An ACT annulling the marriage of Elizabeth K. M'Cay, of the
city of Baltimore,.

Dec. 1808.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the marriage of Elizabeth K. M'Cay,
and Elijah M'Cay her husband, heretofore solemnized, be, and the same is hereby declared to
be, absolutely, and to all purposes, null and void; and the said Elizabeth K. M'Cay, and Elijah M'Cay
her husband, are hereby declared to be divorced a vinculo matrimonii; provided always, that nothing
in this act contained be construed to illegitimate the children of the said Elizabeth K. M'Cay and
Elijah M'Cay, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

CHAP. LIX.

Marriage de-
clared void.

An ACT to lay out and make public an old road in Harford county.

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by the petition of sundry inhabitants of
Harford county, that the old road leading from William Ashmore's mill to intersect the road
leading from Peach Bottom ferry to Baltimore, on the south side of Slate ridge, where the old road
crosses said road, has been found to be convenient and useful to the public, and praying that the same
may be made a public road, and that commissioners be appointed to survey and lay out said road; and
the same being reasonable, therefore,

Preamble.

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Joseph Scarborough, Sedgwick
James and Josiah Slade, be and they, or a majority of them, are hereby authorised and empowered to
lay out, survey, mark and bound, the old road, beginning at William Ashmore's mill, and running
thence so as to intersect the road leading from Peach Bottom to Baltimore, on the south side of Slate
ridge, where the old road now crosses said road, and to straighten the same, if, in their judgment,
they should deem it necessary; provided, that the said old road shall not be laid out or straightened
through the hinds of any person or persons without his, her or their consent, in writing, first had
and obtained, and a plot of said road, when surveyed and laid out, together with a certificate of the
courses of the same, shall be returned by the commissioners aforesaid to the clerk of said county, to
be by him recorded.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That when a plot of said road shall be returned and recorded as afore-
said, it shall and may be lawful for the levy court of said county, to levy upon the assessable proper-
