CHAP.

XXIX.
Bond to be
judged, &c.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said bond shall be lodged in the clerk's office of Baltimore
county, to be there recorded, and upon such bond, or any office copy thereof, suit or suits may be
instituted against the obligors therein, or any of them, or their or any of their legal representatives,
for any breach or noncompliance with the condition of the same.

CHAP. XXX.

Passed 20th of
Dec. 1808.

An ACT to authorise a lottery to raise a sum of money for building
a school-house in the village of Denton, in Caroline county.

A scheme may
be proposed,
&c.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That it shall and may be lawful for Thomas
Richardson, Solomon Brown, Alexander Maxwell, junior, Henry Helm, William Potter, Wil-
liam Hughlett and George Reid, or a majority of them, to propose a scheme of a lottery for raising
a sum of money, not exceeding one thousand dollars, and to sell and dispose of the tickets thereof;
provided the said Thomas Richardson, Solomon Brown, Alexander Maxwell, junior, Henry Helm,
William Potter, William Hughlett and George Reid, or such majority of them as shall undertake to
act under this law, shall before the sale or disposal of any ticket or tickets in said lottery, give their
bond to the state of Maryland, in the penalty of three thousand dollars, conditioned that they will
well and truly apply so much of the money arising therefrom, within six months after the drawing
of said lottery shall commence, as will satisfy the fortunate adventurers for prizes drawn by them,
and after deducting the necessary expenses incurred in said lottery, shall, within twelve mouths from
the time of drawing said lottery shall commence, apply the money arising from such lottery towards
the building a school-house in the village of Denton, in Caroline county, under the direction of such
person or persons as a majority of the commissioners, for the time being, of the village of Denton.

county, to be there recorded, and upon such bond, or any office copy thereof, suit or suits may be
instituted for any breach or noncompliance with the condition thereof.

CHAP. XXXI.

Dec. 1808.

An ACT authorising a lottery to raise a sum of money for the pur-
pose of repairing the parsonage-house and the church belonging to
the German evangelical lutheran congregation in Frederick-town,
in Frederick county.

A scheme may
be proposed,
&c.

B K IT ENACTED, by the Genera! Assembly of Maryland, That it shall and may be lawful for Frederick
Heisley, John F. A. Bogen, George Creager, junior, William Michael, David Markie, Peter
Burkhart, John S. Miller, Charles Shell, Henry Zieler, Jacob Mediart, John Fesler, Jacob Leab,
George Creager, senior, Frederick Lochr, George Adam Ebert, John Dill, Michael Kolb and Fran-
cis Mantz, or a majority of them, to propose a scheme or schemes of a lottery for raising a sum of
money, not exceeding sixteen hundred and twenty-five dollars, and sell and dispose of the tickets in
said lottery, and to draw the same; provided, that the said Frederick Heisley, John F. A. Bogen,
George Creager, junior, William Michael, David Markie, Peter Burkhart, John S. Miller, Charles
Shell, Henry Zieler, Jacob Medtart, John Fesler, Jacob Leab, George Creager, senior, Frederick
Lochr, George Adam Ebert, John Dill, Michael Kolb and Francis Mantz, or a majority of them
that undertake to act under this law, shall, before the sale or disposal of any ticket or tickets in said,
lottery, give their bond to the state of Maryland, in the penalty of three thousand dollars, condi-
tioned that they will well and truly apply so much money arising therefrom, within twelve months
after the drawing of the said lottery shall be completed, as will satisfy the fortunate adventurers
for prizes drawn by them, and after deducting the necessary expenses incurred in said lottery, shall,
within eighteen months after the drawing of said lottery shall be completed, apply the money raised,
by such lottery for the purpose of repairing the parsonage-house and rebuilding the church aforesaid.

Bond to be

II. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be the duty of the said commissioners, before they act as
such, to lodge the bond entered into as aforesaid in the office of the clerk of Frederick county court,
there to be recorded, and upon such bond, or any office copy thereof, suit or suits may be instituted
against the obligors therein, or any of them, or their legal representatives, for any breach or non-
compliance with the conditions of the same.
