that they will well and truly apply so much money arising therefrom, within twelve months after the
drawing of the said lottery shall be completed, as will satisfy the fortunate adventurers for prizes drawn
by them, and after deducting the necessary expenses incurred in said lottery shall, within eighteen
months after the drawing of said lottery or lotteries shall be completed, apply the money raised by
such lottery for the purpose of rebuilding the church aforesaid.

CHAP.
XXVII.

II. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be the duty of the said commissioners, before they act as
such, to lodge the bond entered into as aforesaid in the office of the clerk of Frederick county court,
there to be recorded, and upon such bond, or any office copy thereof, suit or suits may be instituted
against the obligors therein, or any of them, or their legal representatives, for any breach or noncom-
pliance with the conditions of the same.

CHAP XXVIII.

Bond to he
lodged, &c.

A Supplement to an act authorising a lottery to raise a sum of money
for the purpose of finishing the steeple of Saint-John's church, m
Elizabeth-town, in Washington county, and for other purposes.

Passed 20th of
Dec. 1808.

WHEREAS by an act, to which this is a supplement, it is found the sum therein authorised to
be raised by lottery is insufficient to complete the building, and that the further sum of one
thousand dollars is prayed for; therefore,

Preamble.

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That George Nigh, Jacob Young, George
Schenk, Frederick Otter, Peter Miller, (hatter, ) Anthony Hower and John Kausler, or a majority
of them, be and they are hereby authorised to propose a scheme of a lottery for raising a sum of
money, not exceeding three thousand dollars, and to sell and dispose of the tickets thereof; pro-
vided, that the said George Nigh, Jacob Young, George Schenk, Frederick Otter, Peter Miller,
(hatter, ) Anthony Hower and John Kausler, or a majority of them, before they proceed to the sale
of any ticket or tickets in the said lottery, shall give bond to the state of Maryland, in the penalty
of nine thousand dollars, conditioned that they will well and truly apply the monies arising there-
from, within six months after the drawing thereof, to the payment of the prizes drawn therein to the
adventurers tu whom they shall be due, and after deducting the necessary expenses incurred in the
management thereof, shall apply the residue, within one year thereafter, to the finishing the steeple,
and other purposes, of Saint-John's church, in Elizabeth-town, in Washington county, subject to
the direction of the vestry thereof.

A scheme may
be proposed,

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said bond shall be lodged in the clerk's office of Washington
county, to be there recorded, and upon such bond, or any office copy thereof, suit or suits may be
instituted for any breach or noncompliance with the condition thereof.

CHAP. XXIX.

Bond to be
lodged, &c.

An ACT authorising a lottery to raise a sum of money for the pur-
pose of repairing; the chut ch therein mentioned.

Passed 20th of
Dec. 1808.

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by sundry persons inhabitants of Balti-
more county, that the Jerusalem church in the county aforesaid, lying near the head waters
of Big Pipe creek, is very much out of repair, and that it is difficult to raise by voluntary contribu-
tion funds sufficient for repairing said church, and have prayed a law may pass authorising a scheme
or schemes of a lottery to raise a sum of money, not exceeding three thousand dollars, to defray the
expenses thereof; therefore,

Preamble.

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That it shall be lawful for George Eber-
harte, George Mathias, Henry Wareham, junior, Joseph Mathias, junior, George Reinharte, Abra-
ham Bixler and Adam Bish, or a majority of them, to propose a scheme or schemes of a lottery to
raise such sum of money as may be necessary, not exceeding three thousand dollars, and to sell and
dispose of the tickets therein; provided said George Eberharte, George Mathias, Henry Wareham,
junior, Joseph Mathias, junior, George Reinharte, Abraham Bixler and Adam Bish, or a majority
of them, before the sale of any ticket or tickets in said lottery, give bond to the state of Maryland,
in the penalty of six thousand dollars, conditioned that they will well and truly apply so much of
the money arising therefrom, within six months after the drawing thereof, as will pay the fortu-
nate adventurers for prizes drawn by them in said lottery, and the residue to the repairing the said
church and defraying the necessary expenses incurred in the management of the said lottery.
